Diversion Solutions

EcoSafe® Diverson Program

The EcoSafe® Zero Waste™ Diversion Program advocates for cradle to cradle solutions for source separation and recyclable collection focussing on organics for commercial compost facilities.

The EcoSafe® team of affiliates will assist you in garnering the resources to build a customized program to achieve your goals and objectives. These programs follow simple but specific principles that maximize recovery of recyclables and are generally cost neutral when compared to disposal in a landfill.

We maintain that SSO (Source Separation of Organics) is not rocket science nor does it have to be difficult. EcoSafe® works with our Affiliates to apply “best practices” at every step in the cycle to achieve the highest level of participation and the lowest level of contamination.

CompostingDiverting organics from landfills to composting creates a useable resource that was once considered waste. It means saving space in our landfills. It means creating green jobs. It means the use of less chemical fertilizers. It means a more sustainable planet. Compost closes the loop on the natural biocycle just as Nature intended.

Compost should be used locally to grow food and restore the soils to enhance food security, local selfreliance and sustainability. By sequestering carbon in soils we decrease the need for irrigation and eliminate pesticides and chemical fertilizers; composting further helps to reduce the emission of global warming gases.

Throughout the 20th century the soils in North America lost more than 50% of their natural organic content as we force fed crops with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Healthy soils deliver productive agricultural yields, support ecosystems and biodiversity, stabilize climate through carbon storage, and are essential to maintaining environmental, economic and political stability. Applying compost to our soils is a critical step in restoring and maintaining the health of our soils.

RecyclingBy recycling businesses can divert millions of tons of waste from landfills, save money in tipping fees while contributing to a sustainable future. Our waste is a resource and we can reuse components of items instead of just burying them in landfills or burning them.

By recycling and composting in your community you eliminate the equivalent of all car emissions in your community.

zero wasteZero Waste reduces climate change, promotes local sustainability, protects health and creates green jobs.

EcoSafe® team will assist you in garnering the resources to build a customized program to achieve your goals and objectives. These programs follow strict but simple principles for best practices and are generally cost neutral when compared to landfill disposal.

As communities and businesses adopt more sustainable practices that move us from “waste management” to “resource recovery” more than 60% of all waste will be diverted as organic feedstocks to commercial composting facilities. (See Cool 2012 for more information.)

EcoSafe® is dedicated to helping pull local resources and stakeholders together to meet the challenges of developing and implementing programs that achieve the ZW diversion rate of 90% or more though source separation and collection without contamination.
